Just as we have had teachers who changed our lives, now
it is our turn to make an impact on the next generation of students through
honoring teachers. Honor those teachers who shaped you, inspired you, and
made you the person you are today with a gift in support of what teachers care
about most: student success. You can help make an English degree more
accessible and graduation attainable through scholarship support:
The Judith A. Dean Memorial English Scholarship Endowment
was created in memory of Judith A. Dean (M.A.T., English, ’78), whose first and
greatest passion was teaching. Her scholarship supports English majors who
share her drive for scholarly excellence.
The James J. Garvey Graduate English Language Scholarship
Endowment was established by Professor James J. Garvey, who taught in the
TESL/TEFL program in the Department of English for 34 years. His scholarship
supports English graduate students who share his passion for the study of the
English language.
Named in memory of Ann Osborne Zimdahl (M.A., TESL/TEFL,
’81), the Ann O. Zimdahl Memorial Scholarship Endowment assists graduate
students in the TESL/TEFL program specifically as well as students in other
English programs. Ann taught in the Intensive English Program and was strongly
committed to cross-cultural understanding.
Together, we can honor these remarkable teachers and open
doors to a master’s degree in English for our students. When you make your gift
today, you make a lasting impact by investing in funds that enable our students
to achieve their dreams.
