Support the Kolasa-Zastrow Family Scholarship for Adult Education
Ann Kolasa Zastrow ('13) and her husband, Jim Zastrow, believe passionately in the power of education to improve and enrich lives, inspired by the example set by their parents, all of whom were first generation college students and attended graduate school in mid-life. Norma Kolasa (b. 1934) earned a Master's degree in education at 41 while working full-time and raising four children, three of whom were teenagers at the time. Frank Kolasa (b. 1932) attended law school full-time at night while working full-time as an insurance executive and raising those same four children, completing his J.D. at age 49. Sylvia Zastrow Schmitt (b. 1924) completed her Ph.D. at age 50, having been widowed with two children, one in high school and one in college. These examples, coupled with Ann's own positive experience at Colorado State as a returning graduate student (M.Ed., 2013) inspired them to honor their parents by establishing the Kolasa-Zastrow Family Scholarship for Adult Education.
