5:30pm - 7:00pm MST
Virtual Presentation on Zoom!

Colorado State University Extension in Pueblo County is offering a virtual class for CSU Alumni to learn about Backyard Poultry! Many people are looking to raise some of their own food and chickens for eggs have become very popular. Join CSU Extension Agent Tom Laca as he walks through what it takes to raise chickens on a small scale. Learn the process of getting chicks and how to properly raise, house and feed them.  This class will also cover potential issues with both predators and disease issues, and food safety with eggs and egg handling.

Meet your CSU Extension Agent:

Tom Laca is the Ag, Natural Resources and Small Acreage Management Extension Agent in Pueblo County.  He has been involved in animal production all his life from cattle to chickens.  As a former backyard chicken owner, Tom has experience in what it takes to be successful in raising chickens for eggs.  Tom graduated from Colorado State with a degree in Animal Science and a minor in Ag Economics and is currently working on his Masters in Integrated Resource Management.  He currently resides in Beulah, Colorado with his wife and two kids who are very active in 4-H showing cattle, hogs, sheep and multiple indoor projects.  In his free time Tom is also a Fireman and EMT on the local fire department.
