Emeritus Professor Carl Wilmsen is one of the most highly revered
professors in the history of the Department of Electrical and Computer
Engineering, having served as a professor for 37 years and department head from
1982 to 1987. At the time of his arrival in 1966, the ECE department was still
developing its research program, and as the recipient of numerous grants, Dr.
Wilmsen led the development of new research laboratories on campus,
including the Clean Room.
Wilmsen, who advised nearly 40 graduate students over
the course of his career, has been recognized with the Halliburton Award for
Excellence and the Abell Research Award for his accomplishments in teaching and
research. Wilmsen's work laid the foundation for many of the department's most
successful alumni who continue to bring great honor to Colorado State University. Professor Wilmsen
retired from the ECE department in 2003.
The intention of all donations to this fund is to endow the Carl Wilmsen ECE Scholarship.
