In 1977, Craig
Birdsong joined Colorado State University as the family housing specialist for
Cooperative Extension. Birdsong spent 10 years in this role and published more
than 50 extension fact sheets related to housing, interior design, and
furnishings. In 1986, Birdsong transitioned from CSU Extension to interior design resident instruction in the Department of Design and Merchandising.
After 31 years at CSU, Craig retired in 2008. Inspired by his commitment to
interior design and creative scholarship, Birdsong established the Interior
Architecture and Design Diversity Scholarship to support students enrolled in the
Department of Design and Merchandising in interior architecture and design. Scholarship awards will be given to students
who contribute to the diversity of community, including traditionally
underrepresented and underserved students, diverse students, and veterans.
