Jamie Carr Memorial Scholarship

Jamie Carr was born Nov. 13, 1981, and raised on the western slope of Colorado in the small town of Hotchkiss. Jamie grew up on an orchard and learned to enjoy nature as a child. She attended Colorado State University on a full scholarship as a McNair Scholar and earned her B.S. in biochemistry with an emphasis in chemistry. The Jamie Carr Memorial Scholarship was created in March 2013 after Jamie was tragically killed in a pedestrian traffic accident. Jamie was a beautiful, brilliant, high-heeled scientist! She had a wicked sense of humor and an infectious smile that lit up any room. She enjoyed music, dancing, high heels, and hot sauce (especially Sriracha!). Jamie was a daughter, sister, partner, doggie mama, and friend who will be deeply missed by everyone afforded the privilege of knowing her.

The goal of the Jamie Carr Memorial Scholarship is to assist and encourage young people who embody Jamie's spirit, style, and intelligence. The recipient will be a full-time undergraduate student majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology.
