Staff Sgt. Morgan Sneed, USAF (retired), passed away Nov. 17, 2020. Sneed served his country in the Air Force as a staff sergeant who was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. He earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology and the certified addiction counselor concentration at Colorado State University. He went on to earn a master's degree as part of the second cohort of the Master of Addiction Counseling in Psychology program, also at CSU. During his time at CSU and after graduation, Sneed was a member of the Development of Risky and Addictive Behaviors Lab and went on to work as an addiction counselor, dedicated to those struggling with addictions and effects of trauma on their mental health. More than any of his accomplishments, though, Sneed was a good man and a better friend. He was committed to helping people, even as he dealt with his own issues. He was selfless. He was an advocate. He loved dogs, both his and yours. He was deeply committed to helping others, and he would do just about anything for just about anyone who asked. Sneed was injured in combat and had a traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder. He spoke openly about how this affected him.
Sneed wanted to earn a Ph.D. in clinical or counseling psychology, and he wanted to research trauma so he could develop more effective trauma treatments. Please give to the Morgan Sneed Memorial Scholarship as way to remember Sneed and so that his drive to help others can continue in perpetuity and his dedication and spirit can live on. The scholarship will be awarded to a student studying addiction counseling in psychology, with preference to those in or with a background in the military. Friends and mentors of Morgan Sneed wish to establish this scholarship endowment in honor of Sneed and all he was working toward at CSU and all he did for his country. Once the goal of $25,000 has been achieved, the endowment will be created. When created, this will provide financial support to further psychology students' educations. Thank you for your support of Sneed's legacy.
