The Middle School Outreach Ensemble invites middle school band and orchestra students to participate in the Colorado State University-based outreach program, where more than 200 local young musicians spend 14 weeks developing their musical artistry through small and group work. They are taught by more than 60 music educators including advanced high school students, college music majors, collegiate faculty, practicing teachers, and retired sages. These young teachers receive hands-on teaching experience including curriculum development, assessment, community, and inspired instruction.

Our approach to “mutual community” helps to inspire middle school students to love music, expose talented and bright high school students to consider serving the future through a career in music education, and cultivate teaching excellence in our college students who have chosen to serve their culture by becoming K-12 teachers. 

As the program continues to grow, private support is vital to ensure participation costs remain low, allowing students to easily access these services long into the future. Gifts to the MSOE program will help keep this meaningful community resource active and provides opportunities to grow and expand. With nearly 700 people served over the past four years and MSOE graduates migrating across the globe, gifts in support of MSOE will have a ripple effect on music instruction and study for generations to come.
