After having a
successful private practice in Saratoga, Wyo., Robert Pierson had a 30-year
career as a professor of veterinary medicine at Colorado State University.
During that time, he taught several food animal courses; ran the large animal
ambulatory division; published or co-published many articles and books; ran
numerous research projects and programs; taught or tested students in Africa
and the Caribbean; took sabbatical leaves in New Zealand, Australia, and Plum
Island Disease Center, N.Y. While teaching at CSU, he was awarded many
honors, including the "Top Prof," Norden Distinguished Teaching
Award, Outstanding Professor, and several other distinguished awards. Dr.
Pierson retired in 1984 as professor emeritus. He will be remembered for his
love of food animal medicine and his absolute passion for sharing his knowledge
with his students. Through this scholarship, Dr. Pierson's legacy will live on
and support veterinary students who have an academic focus on livestock health
