The President’s Leadership Program strives to develop active, informed citizen leaders who practice ethical, inclusive leadership and embody positive humanitarian characteristics such as optimism, service to others, passion, mindfulness, and fairness. An aspect of PLP that allows students to practice what they’ve learned in the classroom are service-weekend trips and retreats. For service weekends, students travel with their classes to engage a social problem (i.e. homelessness, food insecurity, sustainability) with the local community and non-profit organizations. Retreats allow our growing PLP community (approximately 150 students) to engage with each other outside of class divisions.
