A beloved colleague and mentor, Jorge had a passion for teaching and spreading knowledge. He won several teaching awards, mentored countless students, and traveled the world for research and teaching. A Ph.D. student said of him, "You couldn't help but become a better person by engaging with Jorge." During his 30 years at Colorado State University, Professor Ramirez earned the respect of his colleagues around the world as a preeminent authority in hydrology and water resources. Jorge was a passionate man who brought spirit to everything he did, from teaching and research to cycling and loving his family. 

Family, friends, students, and colleagues of Jorge established this endowment in honor of his transformational work and to ensure the legacy and impact of his passion, kindness, and intellect endures forever. Once the goal of reaching $50,000 has been achieved, the Jorge A. Ramirez Graduate Scholarship in Hydrology and Water Resources will support future generations of graduate students in perpetuity.
