The CSU Spur campus
is a three-building campus that will bring education around the
intersectionality of water, food, and health to learners of all ages. The CSU
campus will open in north Denver in 2022 as part of the future National Western
Center.
College
accessibility is noted as a key deterrent to students who live in the nearby
neighborhoods engaging in higher education, despite the grades and desire to go
to college.
By providing a
meaningful, need-based scholarship to students who live in 80216, there becomes
a connection between the community outreach and engagement, the future programs
at the CSU Spur campus, and the future of these students. This action
represents what is in the direct control of the CSU System to ensure the impact
of our new campus adds to the long-term educational and economic opportunities
of nearby residents.
The CSU Spur
Scholarship is what CSU is all about, and it's the first System-based
scholarship, allowing students to select from the three institutions within the
CSU System (CSU, CSU Pueblo, CSU Global) to find the right fit for their
learning experience.
CSU System
institutions believe that all students should have the opportunity to attain
higher education, and this scholarship is part of the commitment of the CSU
System, and its institutions, to provide educational opportunities to students
who live in the historically under-resourced, culturally rich communities near
the new CSU Spur campus.
